Belarus visa is necessary for all U.S. citizens who plan to stay in the country for more than 30 days, enter directly from the Russian Federation, use a diplomatic or official passport, or enter through any point other than Minsk International Airport. Those who enter through Minsk International Airport may enter visa-free for business and tourism purposes for up to 30 days.

After arriving to Belarus you need to report within 5 business days the information about the address and duration of your stay to the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Ministry of Interior and have registration put in the holder's passport. If you will be staying in a hotel, this will be arranged by the hotel services (reception bureau). Registration is unecessary if you're staying in Belarus for only 7 calendar days or less.
Belarus Visa Requirements
Independent of the type of visa you request, the Belarus Embassy and Consulates require the following:- A passport with at least two blank visa pages and valid no less than 90 days after requested visa expiration date;
- One color passport-size photo (45 mm high by 35 mm wide) no more than 6 months old;
- Completed Belarus visa application form;
- Visa fee (by mail use money order or a cashier's check; no personal checks);
- Proof of permanent residence in U.S.;
- Letter of invitation (see below);
- Completely addressed and stamped return envelope showing yourself as both shipper and recipient;
- All visa applicants have to present a medical insurance valid for Belarus or worldwide.
